Woods & Meadow Sauna Terms and Conditions

I agree to be held responsible for ensuring all members of my party and any guests follow these guidelines to ensure a safe environment for all. If the terms in this agreement are breached, The Woods and Meadow Sauna reserves the right to ask you to leave the premises immediately, at their discretion.

Acknowledgement of Risks

Using the sauna and cold plunge is inherently a pleasurable and beneficial experience. However, as with all activities, there are elements of risk. You must be mindful of:

  • Slippery surfaces caused by water, ice, snow, mud, or other slippery conditions.
  • Exposure to hot and cold temperatures.
  • Exposure to hot equipment.
  • Increased internal body temperature.
  • Collisions or contact with other persons or objects inside or outside of the sauna.
  • Exposure to airborne illnesses or transmissible diseases.

Fitness

I agree that all of the following statements are true:

  • I am physically and mentally fit to participate in the sauna or cold plunge.
  • I do not have any medical conditions, such as anhidrosis, that interfere with my ability to sweat.
  • I do not have any underlying health problems or pre-existing medical conditions.
  • I am not pregnant or subjecting a foetus to excessive body temperatures that may cause foetal damage during pregnancy.
  • I am not taking, or under the influence of, any drugs, alcohol, medication, or other substances affecting my mental or physical state.
  • Exposure to heat and cold puts stress on the body, affecting circulation, heart rate, and blood pressure. If you have an underlying health condition in any of these areas, seek medical advice to ensure safety while exposing your body to extreme temperatures.

Sauna Etiquette

  • Only provided water should be poured on the hot rocks, and consent from other sauna bathers must be obtained before doing so.
  • No oils or homemade concoctions are to be added or applied to the skin.
  • No alcohol is to be consumed in the sauna. Smoking or vaping is not permitted.
  • Jewellery should be removed to prevent burning.
  • Sauna sessions should last no more than 15 to 20 minutes without breaks.
  • If you are swimming, it is your responsibility to ensure you are a capable swimmer and can handle exposure to cold temperatures and varying conditions.
  • All persons enter the sea, lake, or cold plunge at their own risk. Dipping must not exceed one minute per degree Celsius.
  • Towels must be used to sit on inside the sauna. Please take your towel with you each time you exit the sauna.
  • No nudity is permitted in any community sauna or cold plunge at any time.

Responsibility

  • I cannot and will not rely on anyone other than myself to keep me or my personal property safe during participation in the sauna, except to the extent that damages, injuries, or death result from conduct constituting greater than ordinary negligence under UK law.

Children and Sauna

  • I understand that no children under 7 years old are permitted to use the sauna or cold plunge.
  • I understand that children under 16 years old are not covered by insurance to use the cold plunge and therefore do so at their own risk.
  • I take full responsibility for any child or minor I have booked in and will sign an Under 16s Waiver at the location before they use the sauna.
  • I understand that children aged 7 to 16 years old may only attend private sessions.<
  • I understand that community sessions are generally for ages 16+. In exceptional cases, younger children may be permitted, but only with prior approval from management by email.
  • I understand that I must remain present at all times.

Health and Safety

  • I will keep myself and others safe at all times whilst using the sauna or cold plunge.
  • My participation in the sauna or cold plunge is voluntary, and I may refuse to participate or stop participating at any time for any reason.
  • If I see other bathers behaving inappropriately or dangerously, or if I become aware of any risks posed by equipment defects, I will report it to a member of The Woods and Meadow Sauna staff.
  • I understand that if I act in a way that causes other bathers distress through inappropriate language, sexual comments, non-consensual nudity, or other offensive behaviour, I will be asked to leave the premises. This decision is at the discretion of The Woods and Meadow Sauna employees, and I accept their decision as final.
  • I understand that The Woods and Meadow Sauna may cancel sauna sessions at short notice during extreme weather conditions where it is unsafe to operate.
